Season 3 Final Edgic!
Now that edgic is completed, I am going to summarize everyone’s storyline from start to finish -
Aly - She started off as a super sweet girl that people wanted to work with, but her gameplay wasn’t at the same level as everyone else on her tribe. Aly was in a good spot to ride out a majority alliance; however, she was too trusting of Kari, telling her what Malkon had said about the “vibes” he got on call about her. Nicholas and Kari weaponized this and took Aly out.
Malkon - He is the perfect example of someone who played way too hard too quickly. He was very paranoid about Kari out of nowhere, and he was paranoid of his tribe as a whole for not being on the same activity level he was. Nicholas, being in the middle, saw the merit of taking his shot at Malkon knowing that he had an idol. A big threat left this round.
Jackson - A very UTR character. He’s a great guy, and his enthusiasm for the game and competitive drive was super great to see. Jackson’s problem was simply that he did not mesh well with the other characters on his tribe. This vote was also the first of Kilby’s many moves.
Jumi - A very OTT character, Jumi provided a lot of laughs but also had us saying omg at half of her conversations. She was polarizing and controversial, but kept the viewers entertained. Jumi was voted out because she spoke her mind a little too much and it rubbed her tribe the wrong way... RIP Marcellino’s work shirt.
Van - Was nice when they were around round, but was pretty much an invisible character and had little to contribute to the overall narrative. Borderline purple edit.
Nicholas - The first major fan upset of the season!!! He was the villain that we loved watching succeed, and his downfall was hard for us to swallow because it didn’t feel justified. This is the equivalent of Parvati being voted out of season 40 pre jury - it felt like it was waaaaaay before his time and it felt like we were losing a huge piece of the season.
Ali - He was a pretty low key player, and didn’t have too many moves to attached to his name. Ali, however, was a pretty solid number in a pretty dominant tribal alliance. Ali’s downfall was pretty significant because it marked the beginning of Alexander’s very long villainous reign. Nobody expected OG Zevious to turn on each other so quick, so Ali’s vote was a blindside to the audience.
Gina - She is the fresh face that we all loved to root for! She was sweet, likable, and watching her game develop as each round passed was amazing. Total hero edit, and her downfall with Spitzer turning on her was significant because it marked the start of Spitzer’s strategic crusade. Another villain, one of the biggest villains, taking out one of the biggest heroes.
Ben - Started off the season getting a very low key edit - was basically a supporting character to the stories of Nicholas and Kari. His rise into challenge dominance, however, allowed him to rise from the shadows and become a standout player this season. The fact that he was able to avoid being voted out round after round, in hindsight, shows how amazing Ben was. He really should have left the Gina round!! Like the typical “cockroach” character in Survivor, however, who crawls his way out of the most difficult situations, his game was squashed abruptly.
*I must note he was a cockroach we were rooting for, not a gross cockroach*
Taylor - Taylor had moments of brilliance this season, such as pushing the vote onto Van when Nicholas was dead in the water. Her confessionals provided a lot of insight, but her low key style was clearly intentional. Her edit was pretty neutral with hints of positivity, and the viewers were ready to see her become a breakout star. In the fall of Kilby’s reign of terror, however, she became a casualty. Overall, this vote lays the foundation for Kilby’s game to flip on its head and we see the flip flopping occur the rest of the season.
Kari - One of the biggest heroes of the season, we watched a lot of this game through Kari’s lens. We were elated every time Kari succeeded in this game, and our hearts broke every time she was let down. Time and time again she tried to show people how valuable of an asset she was, but time and time again people were intimidated by her. She was an amazing player to watch, and her vote out had us rioting for a recount. Her rivalry with Spitzer, as well as her bonds with Nicholas and Ben were highlights of the season.
Gaston - Gaston’s edit centered around his social bonds with Zaxxon, and his ability to mist players like Taylor and Kilby while also failing to win over players like Kari. Gaston was never really edited as a hero or villain, but he was somebody whose confessionals gave us a ton of insight into the overall dynamics of the votes. He held a lot of power in the premerge and early merge portion of this game, but a shocking blindside by Alex shifted the narrative that an original Zaxxon tribe member was going to win this game, for things were shifting in the favor of OG Galaga.
Antoinette - Antoinette had one of the most misleading edits of the season. Initially, she was shown as being in the driver’s seat of this game, a hero who we all thought had the potential to win due to a dominating alliance and her clear likability. The Ali vote is where we started to see cracks in her game, for she proved that she crumbles in the face of adversity. She was scattered, and only loyal to a select few people in this game. We wanted her to do something crazy and flip on Alexander, but due to the flippy nature of this game everybody else had a one up on her.
Marcellino - Marcellino’s edit was, for the most part, an UTR one. This was not because he was a bad player though, this is because he was consistently shown as a silent assassin. As soon as Marcellino was able to win the battle with Jumi and her hatred for his shirt, we knew he was going to be in this for a long time. He found 2 idols, and coasted swiftly along the middle until the final 6 of this game when he decided to make a big move. His big move, however, proved to be very costly as he was targeted right after.
Alex - Another misleading edit of the season - Oftentimes in Survivor, the final juror is edited as the best player of the season. Because of this, a lot of us were convinced that he was going to win the whole thing without a question. Getting a CP edit every round, we watched as Alexander dominated round after round, constantly pushed his agenda, and quite literally puppet mastered his way to the final 4. We saw his game crumble towards the end, and his fall was almost as mighty as the rest of the game. Though it was amazing to watch Alexander leave by fire, it had us devastated because we were watching an amazing player lose out on his chance to plea his case to the jury.
THE FINALISTS
Spitzer - Is clearly the losing finalist of the season, and throughout the season he was the individual that we were all rooting for to lose. Though his strategic game was made abundantly clear to us, he couldn’t shake getting a negative edit almost every round due to his poor jury management, his blood thirst for the players we perceived as fan faves, his speeches where he talks about his desire to cut Alex - only to go back on it 10 minutes later, and his clear mindset that he has very little chance to win. Nobody can say that Spitzer wasn’t a game defining character this season, but despite his underrated game we know that he will likely be finishing in third place tonight.
Ryan - Ryan’s edit did not focus on a strong strategic game, nor did it focus on somebody who was in the driver’s seat. Instead, we saw a whacky character who did everything in his power to keep his word and be honest to those who were honest to him. His statement about wanting the men to succeed this season did come true, and he was surprisingly able to make the end with his OG alliance. Though he was edited relatively negatively early on, watching him work to avenge his fallen comrades had us entertained. He sits in the final 3, with individuals clearly vouching for him. Though he is not who the viewer’s have picked as their winner, if he were to win it would be justified.
Kilby - Kilby by far had the wildest ride this season! We saw him as a total villain when he seized control of his swapped tribes, and we couldn’t help but pull our hair out when he voted out individuals like Nicholas and Ben, because we knew the alternatives of Gaston/Antoinette were his best chance at putting a stop to Alexander’s reign. After the brutal blindside that was the Taylor vote, however, we watched as Kilby shifted from an overly controlling player to a likable underdog. As he survived round after round, we sat there in awe as his chances in winning the whole thing multiplied x10 with each vote he survived. Watching him take down Alexander in fire making has us rooting for him going into the finale, for there is no doubt that a Kilby win would be one he clearly earned.
