Round 1 Thoughts
I didn't follow this round as closely as I would have liked but I did have some thoughts to share.
Each tribes had some interesting dynamics emerge ranging from gender based alliances (EWWW) to someone sinking their own game and eventually being voted out because of their own loose lips.
Galaga's most notable storyline of the round was the "men's alliance" and the narrative set forth by Ryan that men need to do better in All Out. Where has this guy been to believe this is what ANYONE wants? If he continues to push this it will most certainly be to his demise in the game and in life because what a terrible way to look at your tribe... I am confident that Kilby will not let this continue and will work with Taylor, Gina, and likely Spitzer to put Ryan in his place.
Zaxxon was pretty boring. It will be interesting to see what happens when they eventually go to tribal as Marcellino has the idol and the others seem to have pegged him to be the first boot of the group. Other than that, it's tough to peg who is in a good position and who isn't as they all seem to be talking in various small groups that include one or two others.
Xevious, for obvious reasons, held the story of the round. The were DEMOLISHED in the challenge and have all kind of said it didn't fit their skill set. Well, it was a relay with a mix of skill sets necessary so I'm not sure what they think would work better for them? Each leg came in last except Kari who came in second so... Let's see how round 2 works out. The loss pushed them into decision making mode and we saw Malkon come out full force. This was very close to blowing up in his face but he did pull back in time to shift from his target (Kari) to a more agreeable target in Aly. Aly sealed this for herself by telling Kari that Malkon wasn't vibing with her and also revealing to Ben that she was close to Malkon. At that point, her value as an ally to Malkon, who was really the only person wanting to keep her, was gone and he was on board. The interesting part of it was Nicholas making Malkon think the Aly boot was his idea. Nicholas's gameplay was definitely notable and makes me very interested in following his game more closely going forward. He is the player to watch for sure going forward.
